Pipsa Lonka (born in 1977) is a playwright and dramaturge, who graduated with a Master of Arts Degree (Theatre and Drama) from the Finnish Theatre Academy in Helsinki in 2007. Lonka’s works comprise a diverse collection of plays, radio plays and dramatizations for both adults and young audiences. Her works often contemplate the relationship of human beings and art to the surrounding world, and in particular, to nature. In addition to her own texts, Lonka has also worked as dramaturge for new plays written by others. Lonka’s texts have received numerous recognitions. In 2014, for example, her text Lauluja harmaan meren laidalta (These Little Town Blues Are Melting Away) was given the Lea Award by the Finnish Playwrights and Screenwriters Guild and it received recognition at the Heidelberg Stückemarkt theatre festival in Germany.
